Chief Operating Officer
The operating counterpart to our CEO, a business-building operator who turns Queri's vision into a scalable, repeatable operating company.
About Queri
Queri is building the intelligence and activation layer for Japanese and Asian entertainment IP. We connect creators, agencies, IP holders, fans, brands, and distribution partners through a single platform that turns global fan demand into data, community, monetization, and real-world activation.
We are looking for a COO who can turn this vision into a scalable operating company.
B2C Fan Platform
Paid messages, fanclubs, livestreams, merch, tickets, and community.
B2B Intelligence
Data and insight for agencies, brands, and IP holders.
Activation
Fan data into campaigns, events, sponsorships, partnerships, and expansion.
The Role
The COO owns the company's execution rhythm across business operations, agency partnerships, creator onboarding, brand activations, revenue operations, hiring, internal process, and cross-functional delivery.
This is not a back-office COO role. Queri needs a business-building operator who can sit with Japanese entertainment stakeholders in the morning, work with product and engineering in the afternoon, and help close a brand or strategic partner in the evening.
Queri's biggest challenge is not only building software, but building trust, workflow, and repeatable commercial behavior in a traditional industry.
Key Responsibilities
Own Queri's operating cadence: leadership meetings, OKRs, KPI tracking, weekly execution reviews, and board/investor reporting.
Translate the company vision into clear priorities, timelines, owners, and measurable execution plans.
Build the operating system for creator, agency, and IP holder onboarding: qualification, contracting, launch planning, account management, and success metrics.
Partner with the CPO and CTO to translate commercial priorities into product requirements, without chaos or one-off work for every partner.
Own business operations for B2B pilots, brand campaigns, sponsorship activations, creator programs, and event-linked monetization.
Develop customer success and account management for agencies, creators, brands, and enterprise partners.
Build internal infrastructure: hiring plans, org design, performance culture, vendor management, compliance, and communication.
Work with the CEO on strategic partnerships with agencies, media companies, advertisers, labels, event organizers, and distribution partners.
Build repeatable processes from fan data to insight to action: campaign creation, merch/ticket activation, sponsorship packaging, market testing, and reporting.
Support fundraising, investor updates, strategic planning, board materials, and financial planning.
Oversee revenue operations: pipeline, contract status, pricing, revenue share, invoicing, collections, and reporting.
Help Queri scale from founder-led execution to a repeatable company.
What Success Looks Like
- Queri has a clear weekly and monthly operating rhythm, with the team aligned on priorities and accountable for delivery.
- Agency and creator onboarding moves from founder-dependent to repeatable and measurable.
- Strategic partners trust Queri because the company is reliable, organized, responsive, and commercially mature.
- B2B pilots and brand activations are executed cleanly, with clear deliverables, reporting, and revenue outcomes.
- The CEO is freed to focus on fundraising, vision, high-level partnerships, and market narrative.
- The company becomes operationally credible enough to work with major Japanese entertainment, advertising, and IP stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years in business operations, strategy, partnerships, media, entertainment, platform businesses, consulting, venture-backed startups, or high-growth technology companies.
- Proven ability to build operating systems from scratch in ambiguous environments.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to work directly with executives, founders, agencies, brands, and strategic partners.
- Business-level Japanese and English strongly preferred, at minimum, able to operate credibly across Japanese domestic stakeholders and global-facing partners.
- Experience with Japanese enterprise clients, media companies, entertainment or advertising agencies, creator platforms, SaaS, marketplaces, or consumer platforms.
- Strong project management and execution discipline.
- Comfortable with both high-level strategy and unglamorous execution.
- Able to impose structure without slowing down the company.
- High emotional intelligence, especially around Japanese stakeholder management, trust-building, and indirect communication.
Nice to Have
- Experience at or with Dentsu, Hakuhodo, CyberAgent, Abema, LINE/Yahoo, Rakuten, Sony, Avex, Toei, Bandai Namco, HYBE, Weverse, Patreon, Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, or similar ecosystem players.
- Marketplace operations, creator monetization, fan platforms, entertainment IP, sponsorships, or global expansion.
- Startup experience from Seed to Series B.
- Managing finance, legal, HR, business operations, and partnerships in a lean team.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal COO is a trusted adult in the room, but still hungry enough to build from zero: structured, commercially sharp, culturally fluent, and comfortable switching between Japanese entertainment industry nuance and global startup speed.
Not a pure corporate administrator, but a builder who can help Queri earn trust from conservative Japanese stakeholders while moving fast enough to become the global infrastructure layer for Japanese entertainment fandom.
